AP Cymru - The Autism Charity

AP Cymru (Autism Puzzles) supports autistic people and their families through the autism diagnostic process and beyond. We provide a number of services including a face-to-face outreach service; workshops and clinics (for example, Dietician, Speech and Language, and Occupational Therapy Clinics); guest speakers - many of whom are autistic themselves; family fun and experience sessions in which we facilitate exclusive sessions so autistic children and their siblings can access activities which would usually be prohibitive due to crowds, staff training, and sensory needs; and a summer programme to help with the transition from the structure of the school day to the long holiday - something which a large number of autistic children find difficult.

We also provide autism training to service providers such as Cardiff Airport, South Wales Police, South Wales Fire Service, Supajump, and a number of supermarkets and schools across South Wales. The goal for this training is to help create a world in which autistic people are catered for, and their needs considered, at all times to enable them to access the world in a way that most take for granted.

Our aim as a charity is to help autistic people and their families achieve positive outcomes for themselves, and be equipped with a number of strategies (such as self-soothing techniques and alternative forms of communication) to support the autistic person's needs. We also strive to promote autism acceptance, raise up the voices of autistic people as the champions and experts of autism, and create a warm and inclusive environment for autistic people and their families to thrive: we're not just a charity - we're a family.
